For the grand finale of the World Tour, the predictions of good luck that the New7Wonders team was given in Istanbul came true for the last time, dramatically and almost miraculously.
World Tour - Day 20 - February 27, 2007
A rich, exciting day of celebration in Chichen Itzá began with the early-morning flight of the New7Wonders hot-air balloon in front of the "El Castillo" pyramid, probably the most famous structure in the vast Chichen Itzá archeological complex.
World Tour - Day 19 - February 20, 2007
The sound of several Inca pututus, instruments made from shell or animal horn, echoed through the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu and the surrounding Peruvian Andes as the New7Wonders team made the 19th of 21 stops on the World Tour.
World Tour - Day 18 - February 13, 2007
The Rapa Nui culture was celebrated throughout New7Wonders World Tour visit to Easter Island, with the highlight being the rich ceremony to celebrate the Moai's status as finalists. The annual Tapati Rapa Nui summer festival was the backdrop for the stop in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
World Tour - Day 17 - February 7, 2007
Rio de Janeiro welcomed the New7Wonders team with arms as open as those of the Christ Redeemer statue high on the Corcovado mountain above the city. After everyone took the historic Corcovado train up the steep hill through jungle-like vegetation, the ceremony began.

The New7Wonders team 's visit to Egypt honored the Pyramids at Giza, the only remaining monument of the Ancient 7 Wonders of the World. The Pyramids have a unique status among the 21 finalists in the campaign.

To celebrate the rose-red city of Petra's candidacy, the magnificent buildings carved into the cliffs came alive today as they were 2,000 years ago. A bustling Nabatean marketplace in front of the famous treasury portal was the setting for the handover ceremony.

The World Tour visited the only sub-Saharan African candidate, Timbuktu, as the first of its 2007 stops. Following a reception in the cabinet of the Prime Minister of Mali, the visit to the legendary city in the desert was very celebratory.

The final stop for the World Tour in 2006 and the close of the Asian segment was a lively, worthy tribute to the Taj Mahal, a symbol for love and passion. This symbolism has a particular relevance, as the end of the year is a period of togetherness and festivities.

At the Great Wall of China in Badaling, outside of Beijing, the New7Wonders World Tour experienced a true Chinese cultural extravaganza. Some 1,000 folk artists presented a fascinating hour-long program in the courtyard at Badaling and along the Duokou and Nv'er sections of the Great Wall.

The Alhambra, in Granada, was a delightful host for the final stop on the European segment of the New7Wonders World Tour. The early-morning airship flights provided spectacular photo opportunities for the many Spanish and international media who had come.

The mist lifted as the New7Wonders airship inflated slightly below the elevation where the Stonehenge stone circle stands. The 50 robed druids, some of whom had come from far away, prepared to begin their ceremony.

The New7Wonders airship stopped rush-hour traffic in Rome as it soared over the Colosseum with blue skies as a backdrop. The majestic royal-blue aircraft stood out vividly, proudly bearing the New7Wonders logo, as well as the World Tour and our World Tour sponsors' logos.

Aleksey Levykin, Vice-Director of Scientific Research, received the certificate of candidacy from Bernard Weber. Mr. Levykin accepted it for the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Preserve “The Moscow Kremlin”.

A magnificent sunrise saw our hot-air balloon rise right next to the Hagia Sophia, with a large group of television cameras and photographers watching. At 4 pm, Bernard Weber handed over the certificate of candidacy.

This event was celebrated with an N7W balloon flight out of the gigantic stadium - in the presence of Mr. Ude, Lord Mayor of the city of Munich together with his wife and other officials on October 28, 2005.

Spain’s 24-hour news channel, CNN+, marked its sixth year of operation on January 27, 2005 with a celebratory flight of the New 7 Wonders hot air balloon over the Alhambra Palace in Granada.

Thousands of people gathered to witness the Taj Mahal's official nomination as a potential New 7 Wonder of the World. The event on December 1 was attended by Indian actress Aishwarya Rai, who urged all her compatriots, both at home and abroad, to vote for their national monument.

Spain's Federico Mayor Zaragoza appointed presiding judge on expert panel. The former Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) is to take a leading role in the global New 7 Wonders project.

New7Wonders has paid tribute to the city which gave birth to the original Seven Wonders concept as it launched its global nomination process. Bernard Weber, founder and chairman of N7W flew the project's hot air balloon over the Acropolis to salute the original campaign which was started in 200 BC.
